SecurExchange

Inbound, Outbound, and Internal Message Filtering for Exchange

SecurExchange is a message monitoring and management platform designed specifically for Microsoft Exchange environments. The platform is offered in multiple flavors, and provides (depending on the edition) monitoring capabilities for inbound, outbound, and internal messages to assist in the organization's compliance and/or protection of sensitive information efforts. According to the vendor, the platform plugs directly into the existing Exchange environment, without requiring additional appliances or firewalls and without requiring extensive changes to Exchange or its connectors, and is managed directly from Exchange System Manager or Exchange Administrator. Both local and remote operational modes are supported.

SecurExchange provides both message content monitoring and policy-based message handling based on detected content; for example, a message containing a credit-card number can be allowed between members of the company's finance group, but not allowed to be sent outside the group. Such monitoring is made possible via a combination of the vendor's Intelligent Content Analysis (ICA) and Smart Action Triggers (SAT) technologies. ICA technology examines both the message and its attachments via a concept-based algorithm, as opposed to strict key words or phrases. Messages can be archived by user, group, or content; and the ICA scan can additionally invoke SATs based on the content identified for more granular message control. Multiple SATs can be defined as default actions for specific filter definitions, with a single or multiple actions initiated when the SAT is triggered. Types of actions supported include the archiving of messages and attachments in an MS SQL or ODBC DB; message quarantine or deletion; message forwarding; attachment removal; message categorization; addition of disclaimers; or automatic replies/copies/alerts.

SecurExchange is offered in multiple versions, depending on the needs of the organization.

- SecurExchange Corporate Edition provides all the features above, for inbound, outbound, and internal messages

- SecurExchange Perimeter Edition provides protection for only inbound and outbound messages (not internal)

- SecurExchange SBS Edition for MS Small Business Server (includes Corporate Edition features in addition to anti-spam and anti-virus).

- AV Editions (available for the Corporate and Perimiter Editions) adding anti-virus/malware capabilities to the platform

- SecurExchange IMF Edition extends Exchange Server 2003's Intelligent Message Filter (IMF) thresholds by automatically white listing friendly domains and safe senders, customizing different actions depending on the Spam Confidence Level (SCL) and moving mail to selected user subfolders

- SecurExchange Anti-spam Edition, which leverages the ICA technology specifically for spam identification and is available as a stand alone product or as an optional add-on to the Corporate or Perimeter editions.

- SecurExchange AutoContent Corporate Edition providing only the ability to add automated content (corporate text, logos, disclaimers, etc.) to internal and outbound messages. A SecurExchange AutoContent Outbound Edition provides the same features for outbound messages only.

Also available is a separate S/MIME Encryption Option (automatic, policy-based encryption and digital signatures) for use with the Corporate and Perimeter Editions.

SecurExchange is available now. Pricing is primarily per mailbox, ranging from roughly $25 to $7 per mailbox, with a 100 mailbox license for the Corporate Edition priced at $2,300 plus annual support, and the Perimeter Edition priced at $1,380. Exceptions to the per-mailbox pricing are the IMF Edition ($249 per server), the AutoContent Outbound Edition ($495 per server), and the AV Perimeter Edition ($795 per server). The SBS Edition is priced at $495 for a 5-user license (plus annual support).
