AttachView is a utility designed for use with Outlook Web Access. It allows remote users to view multiple types of E-mail document attachments via OWA even if they do not have the associated file viewer for that particular file. According to the vendor, over 300 file formats are supported, including MS Office, Visio, AutoCad, Adobe PDF, and WinZip.

AttachView is a server-side tool which automatically converts the attachment to a non-cacheable HTML representation before presenting it to the end user; thus preventing remnants of the document from remaining on the end user's machine after viewing (a potential security risk if users are accessing their E-mail through public Kiosks or Internet cafes, for example). Additionally, documents are presented to the user in a print-ready format that are also searchable using plain-text. Conversions can be performed in text-only, graphic only, or rich formats, per the user's choice. All browsers are supported according to the vendor, and no ActiveX or Java controls are necessary on the client side as all conversion is performed by the server.

A key feature of the AttachView application is its ability to enforce administrator defined security policies as to who can access attachments remotely, and whether or not they have full download or view-only capabilities. New security profiles allow administrators to further create protective zones.
